Description: Sherlock Holmes IV is a direct descendant of the famed detective whose daring exploits were so vividly chronicled by Dr. John Watson and related to us by Arthur Conan Doyle. This new Sherlock Holmes owns a small hotel on Miami’s South Beach, and is just as renowned in the present day as his ancestor was in his.
In “The Bornholm Diamond,” a mysterious Swedish nobleman visits Holmes on a matter of such seriousness that it would destroy one of the oldest royal families in Europe.
Reviews: "This is the first in the series written by Delaplaine, who has come up with the curious idea that Sherlock Holmes has a great-great-grandson (the IV) who lives on
Miami's South Beach. He takes the original stories written by Conan Doyle and updates and reimagines them in the present day.
This story moves along at a rapid pace. I read this just after seeing the Benedict Cumberbatch episode that covered the same material on PBS. I thought the PBS series treated the Holmes stories with more of a CSI forensic slant that I didn't like too much, but I did like the series overall. And it moved SO fast I sometimes got lost. And the PBS episodes run an hour and a half when an hour would have been plenty."
