We've been looking at some data released recently about how people use their Fire, and we decided that we wanted to do some polling of our own. It's always interesting to think about how people are using their devices and to reflect on our own usage. The Fire lets us do so many things, but what do we use it for the most? We'd also like to ask some questions about The Kindle Fire Department. We've been phenomenally lucky to have grown so big so fast, but we'd like to know more about what you want from us and what we can do for you. Whether in the polls ahead or the comments below, we'd love to hear about what you get out of our site, in the hopes that we can continue to mold and improve our content in order to best suit you.
Let's ask your opinion and then check out some of the data from this poll of 216 Fire owners (not that many).
What is the #1 thing people do with their Fires?
And now we ask you:
What Do You Do the Most on Your Fire?

Encourage me to visit more? I visit at least once a day, sometimes more. I also have you bookmarked. I use the Fire mostly for reading, but I spend a lot of time with the apps also. What really pulls me to your site is the featured app and the book of the day. I like the tips and tricks, but sometimes they are above my level of use or experience, but that is OK. I am not as "techy" as a lot of folks. I really like your site and love the fact that you respond to problems and questions. You do great work.
ReplyDeleteWe really appreciate you visiting, Leighfirst, and we're glad you find the app and book of the day useful. Having some tips for people who aren't so tech-savvy is a great idea. We'll be putting our heads together to see what we can come up with. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI did not realize so much information was out there for kindle. I have so enjoyed having the Kindle Fire. I have learned several things and have dabbled into several blogs I would not normally do. Thanks so much Kindle Fire Dept for all the info and all the tips!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting, Mel! Very glad to hear that you're enjoying the Fire and all the information is helping you. If you're looking to get easy access to our articles, you should check out our Tips & Tricks Guide, The Kindle Fire Department Compendium!
ReplyDeleteI come to the site everyday at least once to look for books, or apps. I would be totally lost without my kindle fire now days. WHen I'm on the go I use it to check my email, bank account if I need to, check up on friends on facebook and if I have time for a cup of coffee at the coffee shop, I read while I'm there. My 15 yr old has played with mine and now she wants one of her own. :)
ReplyDeleteI am always checking your site for updated information, tips and tricks. I use my Fire for just about all of the above things, reading, email, web, etc. I like that I can read and contribute ideas and questions to your site and facebook. I've ordered some parts to try on the charging part of the Fire. It's very simple, just a way to get the cable going out of the Fire using an elbow connector. A lot of the time, when charging the Fire, the cable is in the way and I'm afraid after continued use, this will weaken the connection port. I'll post more when I get all the connections.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great site that is used often!
Thanks so much for visiting, Sue and Billdc. Glad we're providing you with something valuable! Hmm, as for the charging, I'll keep my eye out for anything that can help with that.
ReplyDeleteI love this site! I have been with you since the beginning. I pre-ordered the Fire when I first heard about it and have never regretted it. I have learned so much from your site and I can't thank you enough. Like others have said, I mostly use my Fire for reading, but the apps you have recommended here have been really helpful. I really love the ScreenDim app!! I'm less than "techy", I have gained confidence reading all your tips and tricks. My grandchildren now call me their "cool granny". :)
ReplyDeleteYou know exactly how I feel about this site! I've never missed a post yet and don't plan to. :-)
ReplyDeleteI come several times a day: in the morning to check the app and book deals, early afternoon for your tips and tricks, and later afternoon for your app deals and recommendations. My son and father-in-law both have Fires, and they visit daily as well. It's especially nice for someone like my father-in-law who spends less time on the computer, because he can navigate everything from here and doesn't have to hop around Amazon looking for new deals.
The information you provide is invaluable to those of us who are not natural techies. Through you I have updated my Fire twice, purchased my car charger, learned to tweaked things like speed and brightness and memory, purchased external speakers, and learned a "compendium" full of valuable info! In my opinion, this site should be required reading for all Fire owners. Keep up the good work, Gadget!
Thanks Cathy and thanks Shannon! We're definitely fortunate to have active and engaged readers like you.
ReplyDeleteI'm not lucky enough to get me a Kindle but I have done an extensive research into all kinds of e-readers and tablets trying to decide on which one I would like and I've come to the conclusion that the Kindle Fire is the best one to get to read e-books on,until I get one I use the Kindle app on my laptop and on my android cell phone to read my e-books and I totally am in love with the Kindle app and I can't wait to get to my laptop or my cell to read my e-books and can only imagine that having a Kindle Fire would just make my day,so Kindles and the Fire really rock, they are the icing on the cake to read e-books with!
ReplyDeleteThat's good you've researched it, Gailly! Now all you have to do is get it. Your Kindle Fire is waiting right here!
ReplyDeleteI check your blog every day and am subscribed to it on Google Reader, which I am able to read on my Fire at m.google.com which works great! I check the FAOTD every morning on my own but then I come here to see the book deal of the day, to learn new tips and tricks, and for other apps/accessories mentioned. I'm grateful for this site and appreciate all the work that goes into it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE my Kindle Fire. I use it daily, mostly to read, but I have books and apps for the grandkids as well, and cookbooks that we use for gramma time. I also check on Facebook, use it to surf the web. Haven't set up an email account yet, but am thinking that is next. I love the tips and tricks and the compendium. I have learned so much! One thing I would love is a way to sort/catagorize my books. I haven't seen an app for that or an update. Is it something in the works?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks to you, Lisa, for visiting us! Glad we're able to help and if you ever need anything, just ask.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed our articles and the Compendium, Lissa! Thank you so much. As for a way to add collections, unfortunately there really isn't a way to do that now, but we're hoping an update will add it. We're hoping!
